LA CROSSE (WKBT)-- Pride in the Park is celebrating love in La Crosse.

Hosted by The Center: 7 Rivers LGBTQ+ Connection, the event is the city's biggest pride event of the year, creating advocacy, safety and connection for the LGBTQ+ community.

Today dozens packed into Riverside Park to show their support for them. Pride in the Park comes three months after pride month. The Center: 7 Rivers LGBTQ+ Connection intern Joseph Giacomazo says why they're having it now.

"The reason why we hold Pride in the Park when we so we don't have to detract from anyone's celebration," he said. "Everyone can have time to travel if they want to and hit Chicago, hit Milwaukee and all the surrounding areas and then be able to have time and celebrate in La Crosse too."

Giacomazo also says he loves seeing people come out, come together and new faces.
